RESPONSIBILITIES:

The St. Louis Arc provides support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting throughout the St. Louis, Missouri Metropolitan area. Shifts are available 24/7 and we offer both full and part time opportunities. **full job description available upon interview

Direct Support Professionals (DSP) will directly assist adults with daily living activities including personal care and community outings. The focus is on ensuring the health, safety and inclusion of people with developmental disabilities.

A Direct Support Professionals (DSP) should expect to:

* Ensure health objectives are met including following doctor's orders and dispensing medications.
* Maintain a clean environment.
* Support individuals with necessary personal care including but not limited to, assisting in the restroom, with meals, and with dressing.
* Advocate positively & professional for the individuals they are supporting.
* Transport individuals as needed to appointments and leisure activities.
* Help find solutions to barriers.
* Provide clear documentation of daily activities in a timely and clear manner to meet agency, state and local requirements.
* Communicate clearly and consistently to support persons and the team.


REQUIREMENTS:

Direct Support Professionals (DSP):
- Must be minimum of 18 years of age
- Requires the ability to see, hear, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, lift, make immediate sound decisions and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Your own reliable, safe transportation along with a valid chauffeur's license and proof of auto insurance are necessary to transport individuals in the community.
- Minimum education requirements include a high school diploma (or GED).
- Employees must have or be capable of attaining certification in CPR, First Aid and Medication Administration.
- Experience is preferred but not required.
